Michael joined the staff of Wayside Chapel in San Antonio, TX in 2012 after seven years of teaching and coaching in the Texas public school system. A native San Antonian, Michael attended St. Mary’s University on a baseball scholarship where he was a part of the 2001 NCAA Division II National Championship Baseball Team. After two years at St. Mary’s, Michael left for Texas A&M University where he received his B.A. in History in 2005. While in high school, Michael had the fortune of attending a Young Life camp called Frontier Ranch, and it was there in the mountains of Colorado where he became a Christian.
Michael has a Master of Arts in Christian Leadership (M.A.C.L.) from Dallas Theological Seminary. Besides watching and playing sports, Michael enjoys reading, traveling, going on mission trips, and going to U2 concerts. (He has seen them live 17 times!) Most of all, though, Michael loves spending time with the girl he grew up across the street from–his wife, Victoria. They met in elementary school on Bus 84 and were married in June of 2009 at Wayside. They have three sons: Elijah, Luke, and Caleb.
